Frequently asked questions
How is the Eco Kids Deluxe made differently?
How is the Eco Kids Deluxe made differently?
At Eco Kids, we are committed to maintaining low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) levels in our mattresses. To achieve this, we have developed a method for mechanically securing the additional comfort layer within the pillow-top directly to the Chiro Flex Es spring system. This innovative approach eliminates the necessity for utilizing glues or spray adhesives.
How are traditional deluxe mattresses made?
How are traditional deluxe mattresses made?
A pillow top is a mattress with an extra comfort layer built on top of the support system.
Traditionally the way to make a pillow top mattress is to use glue or a spray on adhesive to bond the extra comfort layer in the pillow top to the top of the support system.
What age is the deluxe recommended for?
What age is the deluxe recommended for?
While the deluxe pillow top mattress is suitable for ages 2+, we recommend it for ages 8+.
However, we would recommend the pillow top for younger children and parents that do a lot of co-sleeping, as adults may find the softer pillow top more comfortable if they are on the mattress for longer stretches.
We recommend the pillow top for older children 8+ as they are more active throughout the day, and would find a softer, plush sleep surface to be more comfortable than the firmer sleep surface that is recommended for younger children.
What is the difference between the regular mattress and the deluxe pillow top mattress?
What is the difference between the regular mattress and the deluxe pillow top mattress?
The original Eco Kids mattress feels medium firm and is the perfect feel for a younger child moving out of a cot into their first big kid bed. The feel of this mattress is also ideal for an older child who prefers a firm feel mattress.
The Eco Kids deluxe pillow top mattress has an additional premium layer of GECA certified Dunlop foam measuring 50mm in thickness. This option is a softer feel, perfect for co sleeping parents and their younger child, or older, more active children who prefer a softer, plush mattress.
What is the feel of the deluxe pillow top mattress?
What is the feel of the deluxe pillow top mattress?
The Eco Kids deluxe feels soft, plush, and cushioned.
The extra layer of padding on top of the mattress creates a cloud-like feeling when you lie down.
The pillow top layer also absorbs some of the motion transfer, which can help reduce disturbance from another sleeper’s movements during the night.
How do I choose the best kid's mattress?
How do I choose the best kid's mattress?
The factors that make a mattress right for a child are the same that make it right for an adult. The difference is in how those factors serve a growing body. The 4 factors you're looking for are:
- Firmness: With their spines and bones rapidly growing and aligning, kids need a mattress that can support them while remaining comfortable enough to see them through the night. Our kid's mattresses have a Medium/Firm feel, which is optimal for their bodies.
- Size: Every parent is familiar with just how fast children grow. They outgrow everything in months – weeks, even. It might be worth buying a bed larger than your children currently need, to allow them to grow into it.
- Quality: This is when you dig into the details. Consider the materials used in the foam, the springs and the surface fabric. Are they safe, hygienic, breathable and eco-friendly? Consider any awards or industry recognition the manufacturer has earned, and how recently they won them. These will guide you when you're unsure.
- Comfort What this really comes down to is, do your kids like the mattress? Let them sleep on it, jump on it, play on it and read on it. With our kid's mattresses, they'll have a 150-night trial to learn how much good a good night's sleep can do.
Do I need a mattress protector?
Do I need a mattress protector?
We strongly recommend always using a mattress protector with our mattresses. Using a mattress protector is more hygienic and will result in improved durability and hygiene.

What is the 150-night trial?
Within 150 nights of purchase, if you are not completely satisfied with your Eco Kids mattress, you can return it for a full refund, or swap it over to another mattress in the Eco Kids range, subject to our trial terms and conditions. Please note the 150 night trial is limited to one mattress return or exchange per household/order.
As all 150 night trial returned mattresses go to charity, to live another life, they must be in an as-new condition with no damage, stains, marks or rips. We highly recommend using a mattress protector with your mattress. All the customers should retain the original packaging of the mattress at least for 150 nights to use it during the return process.

How do I return the mattress and get a refund?
For returns within the trial period, fill out the online returns form below and our team will contact you, usually by 1-2 business day, to confirm the details. Once your return is approved and the mattress collected returned to our warehouse in acceptable condition, we will process your refund back to the original payment method.
Please note:
All returned mattresses must be enclosed in the original plastic bag provided at the time of sale. This is a strict requirement, as our freight companies will not collect or transport mattresses that are not securely sealed in this protective covering. The plastic bag ensures the mattress is kept hygienic, damage-free, and easy to handle during the return process. How does the mattress swapover work under the 150-night trial?
If you’re not completely happy with your mattress during the 150-night trial, you can request a one-time swapover to a different mattress.
To get started, please complete the return form below and select the swapover option. You’ll then need to choose your replacement product.
If the new mattress is more expensive, we’ll send you a payment link and the price difference must be paid before we proceed. If the new mattress is cheaper, we’ll process a refund of the difference once your original mattress has been collected by The Salvation Army (Salvos) or another approved charity.
For Melbourne metro customers, we will pick up your original mattress and deliver the replacement mattress on the same day.
For interstate customers, we will deliver your replacement mattress first and then organise pick-up of your original mattress with Salvos once the new one has been delivered. Before confirming any swapover, we check with Salvos or Soft Landing to ensure they service your area; if they do not, you can still proceed by arranging donation yourself to a registered charity and providing proof of donation, after which we will process your refund.
Please note you are only entitled to one swapover or return under the 150-night trial, and the second mattress does not come with its own trial period.

What size bed should a 4-year-old have?
What size bed should a 4-year-old have?
The choice of bed size for your child is a personal one influenced in part by their readiness to transition out of a cot bed and the space they have available within their bedroom. Each child will transition at different times, and when they’re ready, choose from our Eco Kids Single Bed, King Single, Long Single and Double Bed kid’s mattress dimensions and make that next move a truly special and exciting one for you and your child.
What size bed should a 7-year-old have?
What size bed should a 7-year-old have?
If you’re looking to replace a bed for your 7-year-old, it’s worth considering a move to a mattress size larger than a standard Single size bed. Children at this age can go through large growth spurts and may appreciate the added space to stretch out in a Long Single, King Single or Double Bed Kids mattress.
At this age, beds are often utilised for reading, quiet play, homework or watching movies. If you can accommodate the extra room, upgrading beyond the standard single could be a wise choice.
