Eco Kids is a family story.
Being a second-generation, Australian mattress manufacturer our founder was given a task by his wife to design their son’s first mattress. His wife wanted their son to sleep on an eco-friendly mattress. A mattress that would be natural, sustainable and free of any harmful chemicals, but at the same time comfortable and supportive for a growing child.
Upon researching the Australian mattress market, to his surprise, he found the so-called ‘kids’ mattresses available were just smaller versions of adult mattresses and not made specifically with children’s growing bodies in mind. Plus most materials used were completely synthetic with no Eco/Health certification.
The final product took two years of research and development. He even had to engage his retired father to help, sourcing old contacts to supply natural fibres and fabrics used in the past before cheaper synthetic materials became the norm in the mattress industry. Marrying up premium natural materials, the latest eco-friendly mattress technologies with a signature spring system designed to provide children with the proper spinal support the Eco Kids mattress was born.
